What is an Energy Performance Certificate and why do you need one?

From January 2009 all domestic properties in Scotland are subject to the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, which requires that all properties, sold or let, must have an EPC.  An EPC can only be produced as a result of a survey by an "accredited" Domestic Energy Assesor.

As  accredited BRE Domestic Energy Accessors, our survey collects standard information on the property in relation to size, construction, hot water and heating systems. The collected data is then entered on a Government approved softwear program, which produces the EPC.

An EPC provides information on how energy efficient your home is on a recognised scale of A-G, the most efficient homes having the lowest fuel bills, and the least impact on the environment through carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions
